SPICEWORLD

by Todd

The Spice Girls new instant classic movie "Spiceworld" is as a line in

the movie goes "Absolutely perfect for not being any good." The movie

tried to be a estrogen-charged version of the Beatles classic "A Hard

Day's night" by following the lives of the girls over a 5 day period

going through all their trials and tribulations. What surprised me

about this movie and at the same time bothered me was the girls' way of

mocking themselves. There were many clever lines slipped in about the

British tabloids, the kitchiness of the girls themselves, and the famed

Girl-power. I think if the movie would have been allowed to just been

written as a satirical send-up of the girls it would have been great.

Unfortunately for all the 10 year-old girls in the audience, The writers

had to throw in too many lame gags and jokes for.....well a 10 year old.

But then again I mean come on, what were you expecting?
